review 1: More One Piece notes goodness!Yay fighting! And yay less of the monologuing nonsense! I'm actually surprised at how quickly Hordy went down, especially since he lasted way too many episodes fighting Luffy in the anime. That said, thank goodness he went down before he could keep monologuing over his superiority.I did expect the enemies to be chump change, after two years of the Straw Hats training with experts and the like. I did wish Nami and Robin had more of a highlight to their powers, but I suppose there was enough highlight with their backstories (especially Nami, who managed to involve herself with her connection to Arlong and the Fish-Man Pirates).The little sad bit was, once again, the Fire Fist allusion when Luffy pumped up his attack to hit Hordy in the water. Th... moree anime did such a great job clarifying the allusion, but those who've paid attention to the last few issues would have seen this anyway.Ugh, one more volume and then I'm going to have to WAIT until the anime is all caught up. Sniff.
review 2: We start this volume off with Chapter 637: An Ancient Arc.We get a really awesome cover page with one of my favorite characters. Dr. Kuriha standing with her own personal army of doctors. Flying Copper's and Hilliluk's Jolly Rogers. If you don't know me by now you wouldn't know that I cried like a 2 year old while reading that arc.Enough ranting. On with the review. Bigger than ever and hyped up on steroids, Hordy Jones starts to slow down. The momentum of the story starts to turn back into Luffy's favor.That's not the problem though. Fishman district "Noah" is about to crash into Mermaid island. The Strawhat crew are scattered all around the battlefield. Now doesn't some of that seem exciting. Now go read it for yourself! less
