review 1: Elderly Alzheimer's patients are being killed off, and nobody even seems to know it's happening, much less do anything about it. It's a good plot, but I didn't like reading the way people talked about the patients they cared for or their loved ones with the disease. My view is based on two years of being a full-time caregiver for my husband as his Alzheimer's progressed until his recent death, so I'm much more sensitive to this than the average reader. Even though my husband was obviously impaired and had significant limitations, he was still loved and valued, as I think everyone, even people who are old, sick, and confused, should be.
review 2: This is the first one of this author's I have read, and quite enjoyed it. The characters were well written, and had
... moresome really good dialogue, especially Timmie and the coroner, Murphy, and her father, who was larger than life. I did also like the nod to classic literature, with Renfield and his diet of flies.I did feel the story was a little too long - and apart from one other of her friends, the others appeared to be caricatures, and despite attempts at a "twist", I have to say the bad guy was obvious. Still, I would read more of hers, especially since reviews seem to indicate this is one of her worst... less
