review 1: Night of the Living Deed by E.J.Copperman is the first book in A haunted Guesthouse Mystery series and a captivating and enthralling introduction. Alison Kerby purchases a property planning to do it up and open a guesthouse only to find it already inhabited by two ghosts, the previous owner Maxie Malone and a private detective she had hired after receiving threatening messages. They had been murdered but were unaware of how or why and enlist Alison's help to solve the crime. I enjoyed this book very much. I loved getting to know the various characters, especially the ghosts and I thought the mystery was very well plotted, captivating with a lot of humour and wit. I look forward to reading more of the series.
review 2: I thought this was a fun story. Not really ... morea haunted house story though, it's a murder mystery. Alison and her daughter move into an old house on the Jersey shore with the intention of fixing it up and turning it into a year round guesthouse. During renovations, Alison discovers two ghosts living in her house - the previous owner and her private investigator. They enlist Alison's help to solve the mystery of their murder. Things heat up when Alison begins to be threatened too. Is it the land developer? The realtor? Her daughter's cute history teacher? I liked the writing style. The book is written very conversationally, like you're sitting down with Alison hanging out while she tells you her story. Fun characters, fun story...I'll be reading more! less
