review 1: I had a heck of a time getting through this book. I literally had to force myself to stay with it. I found the first half very confusing ( so many characters to keep track of.) The second half of the book went much more quickly and the pieces finally fell into place. But it was a long and exhaustive process to finish this book. Not one I can really recommend , although it is exceptionally well written.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. The language is exquisite and the story compulsive.
