review 1: Elo makes a stunning debut into the mystery genre with North of Boston. Her character is edgy but likeable, her plotting fast-paced and, while the believability factor sometimes tips the story into more of an adventure (shades of Clive Custler), she pulls it off. Elo's literary background is showcased in her masterful use of language, and her ability to create vivid descriptions and a haunting pervading tone.
