review 1: This one took me longer to get through than usual. It is the first I've read from this author and this series. Ultimately I enjoyed it. The love story was background to all the action and felt a little bit pointless really. They never really got to know each other much and it seemed like all they really had was sex and the mission. If I come across more by this author in this series I will read it but I don't think I'll go specifically searching for it.
review 2: Emma Cross, the heroine in this novel by Elizabeth Lowell, had worked for the CIA and grew tired of the blood, guilt and tribal wars, but she didn't realize what was in store for her when she joined St. Kilda's security firm. Her first job investigating stolen yachts proved to be every bit as challenin
... moreg. Emma is hired to track a yacht named Blackbird, a sister ship that went missing a year earlier. She is informed that the cargo is lethal anmd she needs to find out if it's biological, chemical or fissionable before a major American city is destroyed. She partners with MacKenzie Durand, a special ops team manager. Together, they sail the ship toward Canada and run into Taras Demidov, an expert in extortion and execution who works for the Soviet Union. The description of the ship and the beauty of the ocean is a definite plus for the exciting novel. less
