review 1: This book was a bit slow for me but by the end, I loved it! Abby's sister, Tess, is in a coma. Abby visits her and meets Eli. The first time they meet, Abby believes that Eli's voice makes Tess's eyes twitch and that she will wake up. While at the hospital, Eli is always tapping. We later learn Eli has OCD. His parents (basically) kicked him out because they didn't know that to do with him and they were embarrassed that he was always moving. Claire, Tess's ex-best friend, works at the hospital and Abby begins to speak with her. Claire became pregnant in the girl's senior year. After Tess found out, she was very angry at Claire. Around the middle of the book, Beth (Tess's roommate) starts to return Tess's things. We don't know why Abby is so upset about this. Abby then real... moreizes that her sister is gay. By the end of the book, Abby realizes that she should be her own person and she's not known as 'Tess's sister.' Tess was very unhappy with her life after Claire got pregnant, and the reason why Claire and Beth broke up with Tess was because she didn't act gay in public. She was known as the perfect girl and didn't want people to think of her as 'Tess, the gay girl.' Tess was very insecure and Abby learned more about her sister during her coma, than her life before the accident.
review 2: This book is really about the relationship between sisters, and the bond that they have. Sometimes it's hard to not compare yourself to other people, especially for siblings to not compare themselves to each other. I think that Scott did a wonderful job portraying envy and admiration for the same person at the same time. I feel like the characters were very relatable and the ending was very unexpected, not what I thought would happen at all. less
