review 1: My very first historical novel was about Lady Jane Grey (Marguerite Vance) when I was about 13. Fell in love with the tragic teen ager and historical fiction. This was a well written take on all 3 sisters. I have been reading the Ursula Blanchard series by Valerie Anand. Her presentation on Lady Katherine is completely different than this one, which gives me something to think about it. No matter if they were saints or just human teen age girls, the Grey sisters had a hard, short life.
review 2: I loved this book. My favorite aspect was that Elizabeth I was vilified. I have never read a book which portrayed her in anyway but a hot tempered, yet poised royal lady, or as a victim. Usually the Grey sisters, particularly Jane, are mentioned in fiction and non
... more fiction alike, but I have never read deep into the lifetime of tragedy that surrounded them. It's a very sad tale, which many stories surrounding the Tudor Dynasty are. I think it's an important story to tell and just another voice within a time period of turmoil. But with each voice, we can understand just a little more about a world that is incomprehensible to most of us. less
