review 1: The perfect kind of romance: funny, heartbreaking, incredibly sexy, ultimately heartwarming. James writes complex characters, particularly independent women, who struggle, believably, against society's restrictions and the inevitability of what the reader knows or hopes will happen, and Vander and Mia are no exception. Mia has loved Vander since she was a teenager, and she turns to him years later in a time of desperate need with a clever plan. Of course, Vander needs Mia just as much, even if he doesn't realize it. I loved their story, and the backdrop it was set against, particularly Vander's relationship with Mia's nephew Charlie.
review 2: This is the most fun historical romance I've read in awhile. The heroine is a somewhat secret romance writer who admire
... mored the duke as a fifteen-year-old girl. But she was humiliated in front of him and his friends when they discovered a love poem she had written about him. Now (about ten years later) she needs the duke to marry her in order to protect her nephew Charlie. So she blackmails him. And...they fall in love, of course. less

It's nice to read a historical where the woman isn't desperate to marry.
