Well Franklin Lorenzo Piccolini, also known as, Frankie Pickle is offered this very opportunity by his shrewd mother. However getting what you want does not always mean you get a fairytale ending. Frankie Pickle and the closet of doom takes readers on a roller-coaster ride full of turns and twists that is sure to make you laugh out loud as we dip into a world of imagination. This book is great for children age 7 – 10.
review 2: Summary: This graphic novel is a wonderful adventurous story which is
... moreset inside a boy named Frankie's room. In the story Frankie has a very dirty room and like most children he also didn't want to clean it all up. His mother was nice enough to let him ignore the dirty room. Frankie decides to play instead. He imagines his closet being "the closet of doom" where he fights off monsters and garbage men. After playing for so long eventually Frankie is tired of seeing his room so dirty and decides to clean it up. Then he is rewarded with his very own superhero cape so that he can go back to pretending to fight off monsters in his clean room.Response: Since this book is a graphic novel the illustrations were very beautiful and very clear. I really enjoyed this book because I feel like we have all been there when sometimes we just don't feel like doing anything. Sometimes when I have to clean my room I rather put it off for a later time. I really liked the fact that Frankie's mother didn't force him to clean his room and he realized on his own that this dirty room was becoming a problem. I felt as if there was a message in the book telling me that sometimes it's alright to not feel like doing something at the moment but have a plan to get the task done at a later time.I awarded this book four stars because I enjoy books to where I can relate to them. This is one of them. It makes it more interesting to read. I feel that many of students would be able to relate to the situations that occur in this book. Classroom Connections: I am definitely sure students would be able to have a text to self connection through this book. I think it also teaches students about the importance of responsibility and doing your chores because nobody wants to live in filth. I think this book would also be helpful in making students become more motivated to keeping their own classroom clean as well.Students should read this book as a class and also can read it independently for fun. After reading this book I would assign jobs to my students for the week that they have to do as a part of their responsibility towards the classroom. I think it's an important skill for them to have in their lives.Text Complexity: According to lexile.com the measure for this novel is 530L. This book would be appropriate for students of ages between 7 to 11. I would definitely introduce this book to second grade students and higher. The responsibilities through the lesson given should be adjusted according to grade level. less
