review 1: I wasn't sure I'd like this book when I started it. Dr Manners was a ok character but u don't get to completely invest in him and u do very much get a certain side. When clarice shows up in book I didn't like her but she very quickly grow on me and the way she dealt with sleeping lion and pride was hilarious. With the later book they are about other characters that u may not know very well but u quickly love the story. Some people hated the FUC ASS but I loved it. It just show a bit a sense of humour in the series hasn't died. I f utake this series to seriously then ur reading wrong writer. Looking forward to next book. Great HEA.
review 2: This is the fourth book in the Furry United Coalition (FUC) series. While they are all stand alone books featuring differ
... moreent characters, there is a story arc that continues through each one. As with all the books in this series this one was extremely funny. With the acronyms of ASS and FUC the play on words was greatly amusing. Add to that two seemingly opposite personalities working together to help locate the escaped patients/experiments of the Mastermind and we get a great book. There is an irreverence with all the characters in this series but I really enjoyed Nolan’s personality. He is spoiled, pampered and generally catered to by his pride since he is the only male lion his age. He isn’t used to woman that don’t want to sleep with him or take care of him in some way. When he meets Clarice, a falcon shifter on loan from ASS (Avian Soaring Security), he is surprised to find that she wants nothing to do with him and seems to find him bothersome. I loved how Langlais used typical animal beliefs and imposed them on her characters. Clarice disliking the felines because she is a bird and Nolan eating catnip ice cream to get ‘drunk’ were just a few. They occur in every book with each different animal portrayed and I always find them amusing how they get incorporated into the story. I did notice a lack of sex in this book. We do have a lot of build up, dirty talk and innuendos but it takes a while for the action to happen. When is does it’s not very drawn out and we only read about maybe two or three scenes. The ending is also a little anti climactic which is even pointed out by Clarice when it happens. We get some ramblings by the escaped patient but we don’t learn details about the rest of the escapees. There is another teaser and lead in to the next book in the series but most of the characters that have been mentioned already have stories about them so I am interested in seeing where the series goes from here. I am assuming some closure for the escaped patients will happen in the next book, Doe and the Wolf. Now I'm not usually one to post lines from a book but this one amused me and I think is foreshadowing about the next book. Nolan is listing the escaped shifters to Clarice."[...]a doe-""A deer?""A female deer."Okay, she wasn't going to start humming that stupid song she learned in school. No. No. Too late. less
