review 1: Perhaps this book was particularly interesting and poignant as I distinctly remember reading in the introduction to Little Women, the first time I read it, that Louisa was so close to her father that she died as soon as he did. While it is true that she died within two days, it is not true that it had anything to do with him. She was in a coma already and might not have known he had passed away. Louisa was a staunch and remarkable feminist as was her mother before her and it was Abigail Alcott who was the more influential parent, the parent who coddled and encouraged Louisa to become a significant literary voice.
