review 1: A decent collection of short stories, although unlike the first collection I read/reviewed, this one felt entirely unnecessary. The story from Beast's perspective is fine, just too short to matter much. I always like reading Beast's thoughts and wouldn't have minded perhaps a story about her and her kits that she clearly has lost in the past but mentions frequently. The 2 stories from Molly's perspective were nice to see, but I don't like Molly's personality - or her husband. That's more a personal thing, I just don't like people like her character. I also don't like husbands like her husband, Evan - and since we all know how he treats Jane (and the guilt Jane accepts because she's a glutton for self-hatred) he is just not high on my list of favorite people. Seeing the way ... moreJane protects his wife in past situations makes me dislike his annoyance with Jane in the present even more. The final story which takes place between books 4 and 5 is really just a silly side story with a goofy ending. It's not a bad story, but it's light-hearted in content and fun filler for Jane's world. I didn't notice any references to it in the 5th book (which I had read before this one) so I just enjoyed it as a fun stand alone. If you're looking for just a few more yarns from the Yellowrock world, than you'll probably enjoy this but not find anything particularly eye opening about it. (Hence my 4 stars instead of usual 5)
review 2: 4 short, 3 new. A nice addition to the series. One of the shorts is from Beast's POV from the hunger times. The writing was a little disjointed but it was very short and conveyed beasts' thinking adequately. Two of the shorts were from Molly's perspective and it was nice to get to know her better. I think it will fatten the Jane stories for me.The last short was from Jane's POV, occurring between books 4 & 5. It's nice to see Jane find another way. less
