Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus
review 1: Gabriel Whitman, chis Donatti's son, is still a guest of Peter and Rina Decker. He's being tutored at home and has few occasion of being aroung with peers all the same he manages to run into a few bad boys and to fall in love with a teen fr4om a strict and conservative persian family. I did appreciate the story as it follows up the finding of clues and evidence and going to trial. The author once again shows her partiality towards one of her carachters. We knew from start we were not over with Chris Donatti.
review 2: Disappointing, although worth listening to the end. Decker - the apparent sheygitz converted to Orthodox detective lieutenant (actually a halachic Jew adopted and raised Baptist in Florida) and his frum wife Rina - are in the background in this no
... morevel. Instead, the center stage is held by another apparently sheygitz teenager living with Decker and Lazarus, and an orthodox Iranian Jewish girl. barely past puberty. The teenage dialogue and anxiety were boring. Their underage sexual dance was ok, but their talking about it and crying less so. The boy's backstory was also incomplete and almost fantastic. Are we expected to wait for these characters to come back again to be explained? It's hard to see the boy becoming a detective instead of a pianist. The treatment of the procedures for arrest and prosecution of teenage offenders was somewhat interesting, but overall there was little tension to the plot. leading to an unrealistic and brutal ending. less
