review 1: Nevar is a former angel of heaven. A cruel twist of fate has him at the beck and call of his new master, Asmodeus. There is no love lost between these two, which makes for a very tempestuous relationship. His thoughts of revenge and retribution have turned him into a dark being that even he no longer recognizes. On top of that he has been saddled with the added responsibility of being the master to the Great Destroyer.Lysia is a lost soul in a strange new world where she doesn't understand the language. As luck would have it, she stumbles upon Nevar, who seems to be her only link to this unfamiliar plane. He can not only communicate with her, but he also stirs feeling in her that she has never known before. Their connection is not lost on Nevar, either. However, his curren... moret duties leave him little time for anything other than manning the post given to him by Asmodeus. Though he tries, he cannot seem to resist this female. With just a look, she can lift the darkness from his soul and give him thoughts of a future. However, there are forces greater than a burgeoning love at play here. If the Great Destroyer is awakened fully, both mortal and heavenly realms will be irreparably damaged. When Lysia becomes a pawn in a wicked game between heaven and hell, can Nevar make good on his promise to keep her out of harm's way? Or will darkness consume them both and leave them lost forever? As a major fan of this series, it was great to get reacquainted with the other couples. I was reminded of how strong the bonds were between them. However, I never felt that all-consuming bond between Nevar and Lysia. I didn't feel there was enough time given to them as a couple. Once the battle between the angels began, I felt that too much of the story's direction was focused on that and the main couple was overshadowed. This was not my favorite book in this series, which saddens me. I didn't get that 'I can't wait to see what happens next' feeling at the end of this one. However, on a positive note, the brief appearance of the Devil was worth the price of admission. I wish Ms. Heaton would give the Devil his due. Sure, he's made appearances in the other books, but he needs his own book. Ms. Heaton's interpretation of the Devil is one of my very favorite things.**Reviewed for The Romance Reviews**
review 2: Oh Nevar - you poor guy! He seems to have such bad luck but in 'Her Avenging Angel' he finally had something good happen! I'm so glad he managed to come back from the brink. This was another great 'Her Angel' book by Felicity Heaton. But she has so many series on the go, I don't know how she manages to keep track of everyone! But I do love it when some of her series overlap - although I don't think the 'Her Angel' series is one of them.My only disappointment is that there's such a big gap between each book in the series that I've forgotten some of the details of the previous books. So while I recognize names and some events, there are small things that I've forgotten which are referenced and make no sense to me! I'd love to go back and read all the previous books before each new book, but I just don't have the time. What I do love about Felicity's books, including this one, is how long they are. I LOVE long books. I don't mind short books or novellas, but when I start reading a book I want it to last. I want to feel the story develop and the characters go through multiple events before it ends. Felicity always delivers on that. I also love how well thought out her plots and characters are. I follow her on Facebook and Twitter and her outlines seem to be the length of most author's full novels! It definitely shows in her finished products that she's spent time thinking about all the details and connecting everything so it makes sense.I also liked the introduction of a new set of angels in this book - which continues in the next book. I like the play on traditional heaven and hell themes with a twist. less
