review 1: I've been a huge FLB fan since the Weetzy Bat books. Francesca is magical and her writing captures the yearning and love and heartbreak that exists in this city of stark desert sunlight and deep shadows we both call home. Though the topic may vary, Francesca's books always deal with the universal longing for the transformative power of love. With her first adult mystery novel, Francesca tackles tough issues (as always) but her darkly brooding, lost and glamorous characters find salvation in the redemptive power of love. Highly recommended.

... moreually searing and haunting, a horror in a way that I'd never read before. I woke up in the middle of the night with images from the book running through my head like a nightmare. This book is darker than anything I've read before by Block. Usually her books touch me with sadness and leave me with a message of hope. This is a bleak, brutal version of love and Los Angeles and it is mesmerizing and terrifying. less

One of those books that won't be for everyone, but I couldn't put it down. Full review to come.

The only good thing about this book is that it's a fast read.

Loved it right up to the weird, sudden, brutal ending.
