review 2: Every once in a reading pile, a book like this comes along. Frank Lesser takes the scary (monsters), adds a dose of pathos (humanity), and shakes it together for a deleted scene from the back alleyways of Sesame Street. Opening with a peek at Godzilla's depression diary, Lesser hits readers
... morewith various looks at dilemmas seen though a very human lens. Letters between a vampire and his high school girlfriend highlight the trouble with age differences. Mer-people discourse over religious beliefs and the draw of "the land above," while abstinence ads highlight girls making unicorn friends over losing one's virginity. Zombies display a fear of being turned into humans, ghost get divorced in the afterlife, and werewolves can be pets - for a price. Real monsters have real problems, just like us, and Frank Lesser helps us all smile a little on the inside with this book. less

From one of Stephen Colbert's writers, it's macabre fun. Several laugh out loud moments. recommend.

A cute, fun read. It's not something I want to read over and over again, but I enjoyed it.
