review 1: I really liked the narrator, Cassidy's voice as well as all of the stories behind the haunted objects. Considering that this book originally started as a series of short stories, I think the author wove them together incredibly well. The plot smoothly flowed from one story to another and it was very interesting to see the characters unravel the central mystery based on the clues that they got from each object using Cassidy's psychometry. I hope that Gail Z Martin writes more books in this series because I love her setting of haunted historical Charleston and I would love to see more books set in this world. It was a very unique urban fantasy and one that I immensely enjoyed reading.
review 2: This book wasn't bad, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped I wo... moreuld either. The characters are fine, with the exception of the vampire. I wish that people would be a bit more creative when they need a long lived character and not default to vampire, but I'm sure that's probably just me. Overall, the characters weren't cliched, and were mildly interesting. The new world that the characters were placed in was original and also interesting. Most paranormal books are about creatures, and while this one had creatures in it the premise was about supernatural things and that's pretty new. Or at least not done to death. The story wasn't bad. It was a little slower than I would like, and there were a few more side stories than I would have liked. There wasn't a big problem with this book, but I just never got into it. The book seemed to be missing something it needed to make it good. less
