review 1: David Elliott is an uptight attorney who works for a big law firm and is involved with his boss. He’s about to leave for Bangkok on business, when his lover dumps him. David is upset, but business comes first, and off he goes. Despite having a large expense account, David is only interested in doing his job—until a chance meeting in the hotel bar changes everything. There’s instant chemistry between him and Kai, but as they get to know each other a real connection develops. Both men are better for it—but can it last? Kai has secrets and they lend a bit of mystery to the plot. The sensual scenes are well done, and the exotic background is a wonderful setting. I loved it!
review 2: I was very anxious to read this book after a recent trip to Thailand mysel
... moref. One of the things the author really captured is the feel for Bangkok. The AirTrain, the water taxi, the markets, the Reclining Buddha, and the description of the wonderful food all brought back fond memories. The one not so fond memory was the HEAT and I think the author conveyed the absolute oppressiveness of that as well. One of the distressing things about Thailand is the continued flourishing of the sex trade. I've been told it's less prevalent that it used to be, but there is no denying it still goes on. While I didn't see it, I'm sure it goes on with boys as well as girls and I can totally see how Kai could get swallowed up in this. Bangkok is home to 10 Million people - many of whom are living on the streets having coming from rural areas in search of jobs. I'm not much on the kind of "insta-love" that occurred in this story, but I really liked how David used his time in Thailand to reflect on his life in Philadelphia. I really do believe that is one of the gifts one receives in travel - and particularly to a place like Thailand that is SO different from the US. The peaceful Wats, the plentiful monks, the small prayer houses and the varied offerings, flowers, medals, blessings are something that I will never forget. All in all an enjoyable read. less

Love can conquer all, with an exotic setting and a coherent plot.
