review 2: The Boys, Vol. 9:
... more The Big Ride (Titan, pb, c.276pp), by Ennis, Russ Braun, John McCrea and Keith Burns collects issues 48 to 59 of the main series, where we learn more about what happened the first time The Boys went toe-to-toe with The Seven, and see them prepare for the inevitable second confrontation while investigating the murder of a transsexual at the brothel of Doctor Peculiar, the prime suspect being Jack from Jupiter. It was good, but I’m slowly being driven mad by “discreet” being spelt “discrete” in all of these books. Darick Robertson is listed on cover and spine, but that seems to be a contractual obligation; aside from having co-created the series — no minor contribution! — he supplies just covers. less

This feels just like one long setup to what's coming up next. The cover's bloody awesome, though.

Full of back-story brilliance :)
