review 1: ****Spoiler Alert****I loved the first book in this series, Alice in Zombieland, so I was very excited to get my hands on the second book. Sadly, I was disappointed. I loved the idea of the inner struggle between Alice and her zombie self. The part that ruined the book for me was the whole Cole/Alice/Gavin triangle. Cole seemingly had some pretty strong feelings for Alice but when she started having visions of Gavin he didn't even give her the benefit of the doubt before he bounced. That whole situation and the constant back and forth really just irked me and, I feel, detracted from the rest of the book. I gave it three stars just because I loved the other parts of the book. But the whole Cole drama really ruined it for me.
review 2: I flew through this!
... more I stayed up reading into the wee hours of the night and had to force myself to go to sleep instead of staying up later reading it. I just love this storyline. I've decided to stop trying to find the small little similarities between this and Alice in Wonderland because that's not what this story is about. It's about a girl named Alice who fights zombies in the "spiritual world" or whatever one calls what she does. Oh, and white rabbits are made into clouds when the zombies are going to come out and play. But really, the best part about these novels is Cole Holland. Wowza's, I want to be a zombie hunter/slayer just to meet Cole and all of his awesomeness. He is definitely my favorite part of this whole series. I'm definitely committed to this series. It's just so unique and a different perspective on a very popular subject as of late, especially since "The Walking Dead" has been a hit with the comics, books, and tv show. Stoked to read the next one, but sad cause it's the last one! Such a vicious cycle. But seriously, I think everyone should read this series. It's not what you think it is, no matter how out of there you may be thinking. Gena Showalter has done a fantastic job creating this world and keeping the readers guessing what is going to happen next while also leaving them craving for me! less

I love this series, I really do. I really enjoyed this book, just as I did the first one.I'm just going to go out and explain my issues with the book first, but there were very few.I know that Gena usually writes adult erotic books. YA is very different and sometimes I felt that her usual writing would come though here, which came be expected. I just didn't care for the weird jokes and sexual references made by Cole. Especially that first chapter... I was pretty uncomfortable.Other than that, I loved it! The story is great and I was very interested. I read it all day and when I was done I couldn't even wait to start the next one. I love the writing and find the characters very likable. I don't love Cole, though. Don't get me wrong, he's a fine character but just not my type.I thought there was going to be a good reason for Cole breaking up with Ali, like he was cursed or being threatened. I was surprised that he actually was just insecure, which didn't seem like a sufficient reason for leaving Ali.I also knew who was the spy. It was pretty obvious and I was pretty dang happy with myself for guessing it.I definitely recommend this series. If you like this kind of stuff, you'll love this series!

It astounds me that the majority of young adult authors think the best relationships to promote to young girls is one that is possessive, fuelled by jealousy, and just generally abusive. Do they not read what they're writing? Because I certainly do not want some brooding, angsty, angry, obsessive, controlling guy as my boyfriend! It's not sexy, it's cliche and frankly cringy. I was debating between 2 stars and 3 stars because it was relatively interesting but damn does the abuse annoy me! And the make out scenes were so done. How many times can a pair 'mesh' their lips together and push each other up against walls before it gets dull? I'm truly getting over this genre. But I am interested to see how it will pan out.
