review 1: There is no doubt that this book is pleasing to the eye but not so much to the ears. Each picture was vibrant and popped off the page. Katherine Tillotson did a great job at incorporating multiple colors like purple and green instead of just keeping blue water on every page. As for the writing by George Ella Lyon, each page was a little choppy and there was no flow to the words. There also were a couple word choices that were not so appealing such as referring to the reader as "honey." However, I did enjoy the overall purpose of the book, to help children learn about where water comes from and how it goes around in a constant cycle. She did a good job at making it easy for the children to understand the purpose and flow of water. Overall, this book was very entertaining fr... moreom the illustrations and nice for readers to learn about water and where it comes from.
review 2: All the Water in the World by George Ella Lyon is a remarkable picture book that illustrates the importance of water conservation. Its vivid images use bright colors to draw the reader in as they flow across the page like living water. Animals that need the water and "do not waste it" become swirling waves of color. The constant stream of artwork craftily gives the sensation that all the animals, humans, and nature in the book are connected through water. These incredible and fun pictures are accompanied by an important lesson. As within the waves children splash alongside penguins, the author says "living things dream of water". She emphasizes the need that every living creature has for this earth's precious resource and she does it in a way that children can understand. Lyon's poetic words "thirsty air licks it from lakes" spark the imagination and change this ordinary lesson into something more interesting for children. I would strongly recommend this book for kindergarten and first grade classrooms. It is the perfect fit for any science unit or lesson over water conservation and respecting the earth. With just the right amount of fun, Lyon has provided a useful tool that can be enjoyed by a broad range of ages. Although geared towards younger students, the book is wholly entertaining and entertaining for all. less
