review 1: Lyon, G. E., & Tillotson, K. (2011). All the water in The World. New York: Atheneum Books for Young Readers.Teacher's Choice 2012, SLJ starred reviewPoetryAll the Water in the World is a beautiful, lyrical picture book that explores the water cycle and water conservation. The text moves across the page like water with the words evoking the sound and feel of water as well. The illustrations are not only beautiful, they are also creative and help the reader understand both the beauty and importance of water to every living thing on earth. This book could be easily incorporated into a science lesson on water conservation and is a must-read for any earth day classroom lesson.
review 2: All the Water in the World, a picture book by George E. Lyon, was a very simp
... morele one indeed. In my opinion this book was very appealing to the eye. Katherine Tillotson did a beautiful job illustrating this story. The vibrant, intricate pictures did a great job representing the storyline. Her incorporation of cool colors (blues and greens) made it very relatable to the topic. The font was creative throughout the story however at times I found it to be messy and hard to follow. A young reader may find the order of words difficult and confusing. The story in itself was a great representation of the water cycle. A simple, yet very valid way of explaining! Teachers could use this story for an Earth day lesson or any science lesson relating to water and earth. I found that the rhyming and simple sentences made it fun for the reader without taking away the necessary content. It explored many ways in which water traveled, covering a great deal of information in a simple way. The end was good food for thought, wrapping up the main points of the story and encouraging readers to “Be Green”! less
