review 1: Got the book for free so honestly did not expect too much. Not easy for me to get past the many "typos" -- too much reliance on spell check. Anyway, I thought the book began slowly and along the lines of a Mickey Spillane ( but much more tame). Never really got beyond the two dimensional characters. I kept hoping to have them fleshed out more. But the story did start to move along when it became a road trip. This was not a horrible book, but not a great one either. I never cared about the characters. The Last Call is the first of a series of Bill Travis novels...will I read any of the others? Perhaps, if I run into another free one; however, I will keep in mind, you get what you pay for.
review 2: I must admit, when I first started reading this, I ro
... morelled my eyes at the story that seemed to start off ridiculous. I set the book aside and read a few other books. I decided to try reading this book again. After a few chapters in, I knew I had to finish reading. Slow to start, yet, it was a good story. The characters were great, although unbelievable at times. This book held a lot of facts about the areas and history. I'm glad I read this. It turned out to be a good book. less
