review 1: I loved this book. If I was going to summarize the premise in one phrase it would be "DREAM BIGGER AND TAKE BIGGER ACTIONS CONSISTENTLY!" That is it. No magic formula except for the fact that it takes 10 times more action than you think it does to reach your goals. And your goals, whatever they may be, are probably way too small. Grant Cardone really spoke to me with this book, because he makes the bold claim that most people fail to achieve their goals because their WANT is not big enough. They set their goal so low that it does not become a burning passion and therefore as they reach any resistance they are not willing to fight through it to reach success. Think bigger, do much more than seems reasonable, and focus on your goal at an almost obsessive level to real... morely achieve success. The major change that I will incorporate from the book is to write my goals down after every defeat or setback. By doing that I keep my purpose in mind which will allow me to understand that my BIG goal is so important that any setback is merely a nuisance on my way to victory. Very good read and I would recommend it to anyone.
review 2: So I've been reading 10x by Grant Cardone (on audio).Thought I'd just share some of my takeaways from the book:Things always need more effort than you think to see them through.Taking action on things (NOT PLANNING) is the best way to move towards your goalsBe prepared to make 10x the effort than you expect to reach your goalsFight fear by taking quick action!People who take action are more likely to reach their goals.Society teaches us to revise our goals downwards at the first sign of trouble.Expand when others are contracting (due to economy etc)It our ethical responsibility to reach our potentialObsession is a natural state: Children are often so focussed on whatever captures their interest and it is only later in life it's trained out of them.Instead of setting small goals, set massive goals and you'll be more motivated to take action to achieve them.I think Grant must be an interesting person, and I can certainly see how his action taking would lead to great success. Some of his tactics make me uncomfortable (like calling people right back as they are leaving your office to have a 2nd attempt at closing the sale) but I liken it to how many people feel about email optin popups. If you really believe you are adding value to the world then you should not be ashamed to promote what you have.Towards the end of the book he admits he's not a good planner or manager, but makes up for it with massive action.I know that in the time I have spent thinking about doing things (like sending out emails to potential JV partners) I could have done 50 emails!! And that's the first thing I'm going to be taking action on from this book.As for setting 10x goals there's no guarantees you will achieve them. BUT you will learn what is required and by failing you will learn more about your market etc. I set a BIG goal for my Aus day sale and fell 10x short of my goal! less
