review 1: This novella was a great little thriller. Penn Cage is rushed to the bedside of his physician father who has had a heart attack. Having lost his wife to cancer and caring for his traumatized daughter over the last few years, Penn is joined by his brother and retells the tale of the hardships and a case that decided it all for him, with his home, with his career and with his principles. Short and deeply moving, this story will resonate with you long after reading it.
review 2: A complete waste of time and money. After finishing Greg Iles' "Devil's Punchbowl", I could hardly wait for the next installment, so I purchased this so-called novella, which is a short sequel. It has no plot, no storyline, and (I'm told) is just a prequel (and duplicate) of some early cha
... morepters in his next book.His publishers must have been pressuring him to get that next book out, so he put out this weak, insipid novella that's not even worth of that term. It took about an hour to read and only cost $1.99, but even that pittance was a waste. Let's hope the real sequel, "Natchez Burning" is an improvement over this mess. less

It's hard to review a novella. But this is a good story that ties in Cage's past and future.
