review 1: Oh boy!! I stupidly bought this book without reading any of the reviews. I bought it purely on the ratings. How idiotic. I would never read about cruelty to animals. More than a few people brought up Michael Vick. It would have been my opinion that Vick never play football again and I would have put him in a cage with a few of the dogs he cultivated to fight. Then we would see how he managed the rest of his life mangled, scarred and horribly handicapped. Of course that would be if he came out alive.
review 2: This was another great book by Greg Iles. He has the ability to bring you so far into his characters it is hard to put the book down. This was one of his most graphic novels dealing with animal cruelty, torture and excessive sexual abuse. It is no... moret for the faint of heart. I struggled many times with just how graphic it was but I still read on because I wanted to see how Penn Cage was going to take them down. Dealing with the underbelly of organized crime and putting his family in peril kept him on his toes. One of my favorite Penn Cage books. Definitely worth the read! less
