review 1: This book had some obvious growing pains that any first in a series might have but I still enjoyed it. I think a lot of the issue stems from the author writing in a new genre for the first time and starting a new series to boot. I have read Olsen's books in the past and been completely captivated by them so I am confident that once he gets the kinks of world building and establishing back story out of the way that this will be a good series. It's also refreshing to find a young adult book that is not focused on "romance" and boy obsessed girls. It's just a good old fashioned mystery and I enjoyed it. I figured it out really early on but anyone familiar with the story it's based on will. I give it a 4 out of 5 and I'm passing it along to my teen nieces.
review 2:... more> First off I love the cover! How much creepier could a cover get? But the story inside was just as good! I didn't have very high hopes for Envy and honestly just was reading it in the beginning for a reading challenge but as I started reading I knew right off this was gonna be a winner! It just sucked me in and I felt as though I were right alongside Hayley and Taylor as they unraveled bits and pieces behind the death of a classmate and boy they found out not only the truth behind what happened to Katelyn but also some deep buried secrets about themselves and others along the way. I could NOT put it down! less
