review 1: In brief, this is a good serial killer crime story with a strong start as far as characterisation of the lead investigators, but felt that tailed off as the book progressed. I liked the female lead and was amused by her colleague but was disappointed that their development kind of hit a brick wall. The plot was fairly straightforward and didn't really throw any curved balls, especially as the killer is identified early on. Some of the violence and details are pretty graphic with a lot of sexual violence and I found it a bit disturbing in places, which is saying something when you read as many crime novels as I do. There were a few little typos sprinkled in but nothing too distracting. It was a good but not exceptional read.
review 2: The main reasons I picked u
... morep this book are that it was set in the Pacific Northwest and that it was a mystery/thriller. I thought the book well written and found myself unable to put it down. Soon after I finished, I headed to the used bookstore to find more books by Olsen. One reader was bothered that the killer was identified about halfway through th book. This tends to not bother me when reading books and in my opinion took nothing away from this story. less

Very uneven book. The beginning was confusing but it wrapped up nice in the end.
