review 1: What a great book! Social issues abound in this adventure story of two recently orphaned siblings making their way in New York City on a quest to find their long lost uncle. Bob tries to be a stable influence on his sister "Rat", a girl who is headstrong, smart-mouthed, and compulsive, yet strangely loveable. You will laugh and cry at Rat's escapades. This book, due to strong language, is best for mature upper-grade readers.
review 2: Been looking at this book for a long time and decided to pick it up yesterday - done!! I really liked it a lot.Crazy adventure for 2 orphans that takes them from Winnipeg to Toronto to New York. I really couldn't put it down. Great characters, all so believable. Fun/tragic/heartwarming/crazy story that you just eat up! Kudos'

I like this book, but don't think it is appropriate for younger (middle grade) readers.
