review 1: I never expected Reiner and Bertholdt to be the Colossal and Armored Titans until I read some spoilers on Youtube, but I still love them after they expressed their guilt and grief because they grew close to their comrades. I also love how Isayama expanded on Ymir and Historia's relationship, and I hope Ymir returns soon because they are adorable together. I'm devastated by Hannes' death, I really liked his character. It was really touching when Mikasa thanked Eren for being with her, teaching her how to live and wrapping the scarf around her, and Eren promised that that was something he would do as many times as he needed to. It was cool to see the Smiling Titan again, but I thought it would be cooler if Eren killed it directly instead the other Titans devouring it. Howeve... morer, I thought this volume was very touching, intense, and I can't wait to see it animated in the anime!
review 2: Finally finished reading this in Japanese, and WOW what an epic volume of this amazing series! A very fitting and powerful, climactic ending to the long, terrible, terrifying string of events that has just pounded our heroes non-stop since the defeat of the Female Titan. We get lots of good character development, especially of our two "traitors" and small peeks at what they're dealing with (though there's a lot more we definitely don't know). There's a very telling moment toward the end where Armin continues on his dark path, and more beautiful moments for Ymir and Christa as well as a heartfelt speech from Mikasa (I think she speaks more there than she has in the rest of the series combined??). And what a great volume for Erwin! Especially in those last few chapters, the epic Commander Smith shows us just how damn metal he is, both fighting-wise and otherwise. No spoilers, but... when he was shouting, "EREN IS RIGHT BEFORE YOU! GO!!!" I was just like... OMG WHO IS THIS EPIC MAN IS HE GOD?! XDDD Also, with his loyal Levi sidelined, Erwin gets in on the action a bit more and you can see why his "strength" rating in the character guide is just one notch under Levi's. ^^All that, plus a crazy twist at the end of the volume... Seriously, what a doozy this volume is! This is AoT at its best~~~ XDDD less
