review 1: It's hard for me to believe that this author wrote a book on how to write mysteries when her own are so substandard. If this seems harsh, just let me say that I have tried several of her novels and found them all wanting. This one was actually a bit above the cut--the part about virtual reality was fascinating--but it still displayed the weaknesses of her other mysteries: cardboard characters, improbable premises and trite resolutions. I found it such a waste of time I almost didn't review it at all. Enough said.
review 2: I enjoyed reading this book because I have knowledge of those professionals who identify and combat hackers. The damage that could have been wrought by the scheme of the hackers in this book is disquieting. I know nothing about the virtual... more online world so I didn't really get the Internet-based platform called OtherWorld that the main character interacted with others through her avatar. I don't even know if there is such a thing out there or if it was just the author's imagination. But the book was a fun and suspenseful romp. less
