review 1: Despite the ordinary title, this book contains an immersive story. The author leaves enough clues to assist the reader in deducing what is really happening, but she doesn't create a limp mystery by haphazardly throwing hints everywhere. Overall, I really enjoyed this read. You weren't confused by too many characters, and the descriptive details added to the feeling of being in the story as well.
review 2: I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It starts out with puzzling incidents that could be the result of eccentricities of elderly or ill people, the kind of thing that causes the younger generation to shake their heads and start to think of nursing homes. But you soon realize that something more is going on. But what? Is an entire neighborhood being gaslighted?
... moreI eventually figured out some of it, but parts had me stumped down to the end. I also really enjoyed the way that bits of the area's history were woven into the mystery. less
