review 1: I was expecting to like this book much more than I did. I loved Gone, Gone, Gone and Teeth so much, and since Break shares Moskowitz's tried and true theme of neglected boys who feel too much responsibility for their brothers, I really thought I would fall in love with this book. And I was on board for quite some time. I felt for Jonah's desperate bid to get stronger through self-harm, I loved his relationship with his brother, Jesse. I even liked the weird not-relationships he had with Charlotte and Naomi. But I think the final act set in the psychiatric hospital was too far-fetched for my tastes, and the book lost me. That being said, this was her first published book and she wrote it while still in highschool, so kudos to you Hannah Moskowitz for that feat. I probably w... moreould have liked Break more if I didn't have such high expectations going in.
review 2: well written but WTF is up with the end. Mental wards are NOTHING like this. oh and no one with a milk allergy has a breast milk allergy. in fact no one has a breast milk allergy. they can be allergic to something mom ate but not the milk itself. I doubt if her child was that allergic she would have cows milk in the house. lastly severe reactions are not treated with large amounts of benydril, how come he is knocked out BTW, it is treated with an empipen. less
