review 1: Gone, Gone, Gone was such an inspiring and amazing book. I absolutely loved reading it. This book is set in the year after 9/11 in Washington DC. The characters are startled and fragile about what had recently happened and about some more recent sniper shootings. In the middle of all the madness the characters are simply trying to figure out their lives. The characters find love and manage to forget about their broken lives outside of love. I loved this book so much, I thought the ideas of finding love in the middle of a war were just magical. THis book gave me hope and really made me feel like i going on this roller coaster of emotions with the characters. I think this book is great for middle school students who want to know more about how 9/11 personally affected those ... morein the area. I think it will give them a new isight to what really happened and how it affected all of America. I wouldn't necessarily read this to the classroom because I don't think it is something that should be read aloud and not everyone might like it. But overall it was a great read and it really got to my emotions.
review 2: Gone, Gone, Gone is a story of two teenage boys, Lio and Craig deal with the what happens after the September 11th attacks. The story switches from both of the characters perspectives, which helps the reader understand both of their point of views. Throughout the story, we watch the two start up romance between one another and the story becomes beautiful. My favorite part about the story was the fact that we watch a gay relationship unfold after such horrible events. This is extremely relevent in today’s society because a lot of us went through the 9/11 attacks and not to mention the gay rights movement that has been going on for quite some time now. In other words, we now live in a society where it is more acceptable to be open about your sexuality. This story deals with issues that could be seen as both private and public matters as both can cause internal and external grief. Although this book talks about two very important social issues, I am not sure I would bring this to my future students, because it could be offensive to some. less
