review 1: This is a beautifully written book. Marquez captures the essence of the human heart and mind. In many ways his books capture the conflict between imposed constraints (traditions linked to religous values) and the desires of his latin american characters. There is always tension between creed and passion in his writing. At some point in nearly all his stories the human heart prevails over the constraints of traditions and values linked to religosity. The coming together of two former loves, during the mature stage of life presents life as a journey of heart and mind, within vessels that age physically, yet continue to love as if youthful.
review 2: Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! There were passage after passage that I wanted to share while reading Love in the T
... moreime of Cholera. That may be a bad thing if you want to complete it quickly. It is funny and sweet, then sad and sweet, pulling your heart up and down the pages like a mule train through the mountains of Colombia. Wherever your heart ends up just remember, "there can be no love without river navigation." less
