review 1: After I finished the first book int this series, I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy Double Blind. After reading this short story though... I'm now certain I won't be continuing this series.I'm far from a prude, but certain aspects of this just made my skin crawl and made me dislike Randy and Mitch a lot. Special Delivery ended with me starting to like Randy enough to want to read his story, but after this... Not anymore. I just can't equate any of their actions with the "love" they're supposed to have with Sam. The threesome in book 1 was only tolerable because Mitch and Randy had history. But in this? Pulling Keith who is a complete douchebag into their little BDSM thing? That was just gross. Just ugh. I actually felt sick.I get that Sam gets off on humiliation. I get that... more Mitch is a voyeur. But the thing is... Neither of these things appeal to me if they're letting strangers or douchebag jocks bang Sam :(. That gangbang was the last straw. I wish I hadn't read this and just left Sam and Mitch with their happy ending in book one. Excuse me while I re-read Love Lessons to wash the bad taste of this book from my mind.
review 2: When this book is hot, which it often is, it's sizzling. I'd say, in fact, that it's unequivocally the hottest free read that's ever melted my Kindle. When it's not, however, it's bothersome. Bothersome, to me at any rate, was Randy disclosing each and every detail of Sam's sexual kinks to Emma, Sam's best friend, without Sam's knowledge. Therein lies the rub. If Emma is, indeed, Sam's best friend and their closeness warranted her knowing these details, Sam would have told her himself that he was blowing straight guys in men's rooms since high school, or that he liked to be humiliated when being fucked, or made to feel shameful afterwards, or spanked while Mitch watches, etc. Randy's doing this behind Sam's back presents him as a less than likeable character and one I wouldn't particularly want to be friends with despite the profusion of good deeds he showers on one and all. (Do 20 things right and no one will mention them; do one thing wrong and it's all over town, isn't that how it goes?) What's worse is that Randy's lengthy discussion about Sam's proclivities involves Emma to such an extent that I feared female cooties might be getting just a bit too close for comfort. 3.5 stars, really, but rounded up for hotness. less
