review 1: It is amazing the places that one yellow dot could take me, and I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense of finding out what new page would bring. Each picture includes an instruction and following the instruction was a result, always something different, exciting, and funny. It feels like magic as children are almost creating the destiny of their story, and it even made me feel adventurous. I also enjoyed the learning objective, which was color. As the reader makes the primary colored dots grow, they begin to overlap with one another, creating new colors that are worth discussing! One fun activity to do with this book is to recreate it as a class. By using paint, markers, crayons, etc., students can create a starter page, and you can build off one another to determine what happen... mores next given your set instructions. Compile the book and read it together! They will be inspired by their creation to the point where they'd likely want to add on to it, as it is an easy, but creative experience. Tullet, Hervé, and Christopher Franceschelli. Press Here. N.p.: Chronicle LLC, 2011. Print.
review 2: I've heard this book raved about so much and finally worked it onto my order list. I wanted to use it right away in Story Time but it doesn't really fit into a theme except maybe "Colors" and that wasn't going to happen in the foreseeable future so I just plugged it in to this week's event. It's very interactive. The story performer "presses the dots" as instructed on each page, turns the page, and voila` -- presto chango -- look what happened! The performer prompted the children to just pretend to press the dots as there were too many to come up and touch the book.It was so much fun we had to "do it again!". less
