review 1: Audience: Ages 12 and upMitsu has just begun a dangerous career as a window cleaner for the gigantic space apartment complex, Saturn Apartments. His daunting job responsibilities are amplified by the fact that his father died years ago while performing the very same tasks. This sci-fi coming of age story touches on the whirlwind of problems including class-ism, human labor vs. machine capabilities, and isolation facing contemporary youth. Hisae's cute big-headed people are poignantly at odds with their complex characters. The fine-lined, black and white images are an interesting mix of compact-looking human figures and towering, vast landscapes. This book was included in the 2011 YALSA Top Ten Graphic Novels for teens list and is recommended as an essential purchase fo... morer libraries serving teens and young adults.
review 2: I haven't quite learned to love the quirkiness of Manga yet or the sparse dialog and not-quite-linear plot lines (yes, I AM reading right to left, but I still get confused!). I did love this. I love that the protagonist is a window cleaner and that he unwittingly eavesdrops on all of his clients because of the nature of his work. I love that one of the characters is a cat in a space suit. The drawing on page 122 blows my mind. less
