Not only is Crater the title but it is also the name of the main character, Crater Trueblood.X so what is your thesis about him? Sixteen-year-old Crater is a Helium-3 miner on the moon in the 22nd century. One day he saves another worker and suddenly he's the hero of the colony. The mine owner is impressed with his act of bravery and decides to send him on the most dangerous mission of his life. He'll go with the owner's granddaughter Maria who he kinda has a crush on. There's just one problem with the mission. In the words of Captain Teller, "He was soft.".X cite Crater simply wasn't a killer. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't overcome it. It was a curse and a gift in the same way. It allowed h... moreim to make friends but kept him from eliminating enemies. He's had many chances to prove he's not soft but hasn't taken advantage of any of them. Many a time has he come upon a foe and befriend them rather than fight. He sees the situation as "why fight when there is no need?". The thing about that, is that there will be war. As Crater says "There will be war. And he will fight". review 2: Very interesting concept, clear the author put a great deal if thought into this. My problem was the lack of similar attention that was paid to the characters and plot. Everything was wrapped too neatly, characters were very flat. Parts of the book also came across quite preachy to me.Granted this is a YA book, but my attention span waned. Overall a wonderful concept but the execution fell short of my expectations. less
