review 1: I really enjoyed this book...really right up until I realized that Ben really didn't know who killed Jimmy. Ok, maybe it's inaccurate to say I didn't like the book even then, because I did. I loved the entire theme of the book, the way it's written, all of it. Just a little perturbed that you're left hanging with the "who killed Jimmy question?" And of course what happens to Ben? I kind of feel like Hazel Grace in The Fault In Our Stars in regards to An Imperial Affliction.
review 2: I found this to be an interesting read. The ideas behind it, and the inward struggle the main character had was very true and even relatable, though his case was quite extreme. I liked the symbolism behind the name of the book. I'm not sure in what era and place, but somewhere they
... more would pay a person, usually someone who was poor and willing to do it for the money, to eat bread beside a dying relative. This symbolized that the sins of the dying were being eaten or taken away, so that the dying could rest in peace. However, the sin eater was then shunned by society, because he had eaten another's sins. less

I tried to finish it, but I couldn't. It never once caught my attention and I was 110 pages in.

It was okay but I didn't think the whole book was about the kid being gay.
