review 1: This is my first Ina Garten cookbook and I'm excited to own it and cannot wait to try some of her recipes. I love the way the book is organized and the photos are great. She puts ease into organizing a dinner party, removes the stress, and makes you want to send out the invitations. I may not be making my own chicken stock, but at least now I know how to do it. The recipes are very doable, look delicious, and the ingredients are available in many markets.
review 2: If you can't arrange to have Ina Garten cook for you, then the What's Cooking? discussion group is the next best thing! We were very fortunate to have a large turnout, so we were able to sample 8 recipes from this book (including 2 versions of Tuscan Mashed Chickpeas). Unanimous praise went to t
... morehe baked donuts, shrimp with dill and brussels sprouts with pancetta. The rest of the recipes...caramelized bacon, Israeli couscous & tuna salad, Provencal cherry tomatoes gratin, Parmesan and rosemary crackers, and mustard roasted chicken...received mixed reviews. By mixed reviews we mean mostly "Yummy!" and "It's okay." There were very few "Not my cup of tea" responses. (Caramelized bacon received the most exclamation points.)We enjoyed this book very much. A couple of us remarked that a first pass through the book didn't illicit a lot of interest. However, once recipes were sampled, we really liked the results. Instructions were clear, and several of us commented on them being ridiculously easy. While this collection of recipes may not be for those who are watching fat, cholesterol, salt, etc, they are a wonderful resource for when you are hosting a special dinner. Your guests will think you are awesome, and Ina's planning tips will ensure that you'll be calm, cool and collected for the meal as well! Each month we'll ask you to make two recipes from a designated cookbook: we'll choose the first recipe and ask you to make it at home; you choose the second and bring it to our discussion to share. We'll meet to discuss both recipes and to sample the one you chose. We'll have a potluck of tasty treats! This month's selection is Barefoot Contessa Foolproof, and our recipe selection is Crispy, Mustard Roasted Chicken. Copies of the book are available at Maze. When:Sunday, October 13, 2013 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm less

I love her cookbooks, but this one had less recipes that I would actually make. Eh.
