review 1: Saturday, 25th October,2014Phoebe and Emma were best friends since kindergarden until one day Guy, Emma's friend whom she loves, met Phoebe and fell in love with her. Emma got really mad and didnt speak to the two of them since they started going out. One night after the Guy and Phoebe got engaged Emma called to say she wasnt feeling well and if Phoebe could come check on her. Phoebe and Guy didnt take it seriously but the next day she was found dead. Phoebe never forgave Guy and broke off all contact.Phoebe then opened a vintage clothing shop called Vintage Village. She moved on and started a new life. She got a new assistant called Annie and two new "boyfriends" called Miles and Dan. Miles and Dan are very different but Phoebe decides to go out with Miles eventhough hes ... more45 and has a daughter. Life is going better for her and she is getting over the fact that her best friend died.
review 2: THIS WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN I EXPECTED IT TO BE. Holy crap! This wasn't chick-lit at all! So please, if you're thinking of picking this up and you're feeling a little put-off because of the girly cover or the sappy script font of the title, just ignore it. Read it. Delve into the fascinating world of vintage clothing (no sarcasm here... I'm not a fashion maven or anything but I found all the history behind vintage clothing, especially in the British setting, very interesting) with our protagonist Phoebe, who seems to have an overwhelming amount of emotional baggage following her through her professional life. Despite that, she's strong, she's put-together, and she tries to help others. I immediately liked her and wanted to know more about her, regardless of the two love interests the story tries to introduce. I say "tries" because while there is romance, it's not central to the plot at all and actually serves as a measure of how much Phoebe has her life together throughout the storyline. The only reason this isn't five stars is because the writing got very contrived at certain points and that bugged me. But it was such a fun thing to read that I didn't really mind! less

Thoroughly enjoyable if a little predictable. Would love to see it as a movie.
