review 1: There were parts of this book I loved: The description of the paintings as Ella created them, her interaction with most of the portrait sitters, some of the dialogue and description. But there were other parts that were a bit disappointing: the transition from hate to love went very quickly without really showing why. I was confused by the attitudes toward adultery (it's okay for you, unless you become obsessed, and it isn't okay for me at all) and the story was a bit too predictable. It was a fast, fun, read, but not in my top 50.
review 2: Rather a slow read. Essentially a 'Mills & Boon' and a rather predictable romance at that. The additional storylines of the other sitters (the storyteller is supposed to be a portrait artist) were rather flat and unengrossi
... moreng. I also found it strangely devoid of any feeling of actually 'painting' - and these days I certainly wouldn't use turps for oil painting when there are low odour mixers and cleaners available - and going into someone's home and painting yet no mention of the stink it makes throughout the house? less

Lättläst bagatell. Skönt när man vill koppla av med lite romantik.

Fun, quick read. Chick lit is a good description.
