review 1: This was a quick read. I have little to no interest in Vintage clothing or designer labels so all the designer name dropping and fashion references were a bit of a nuisance to me - initially, at least. I didn't particularly care for any of the characters, except Dan (like Phoebe's mother, I too find curly hair quite appealing!). Frankly, I didn't even like the plot line, or the sub plots! Yet I devoured the book!?! I think it's because I sometimes need a break from all the nonfiction. ...What have I learned from reading this book? That I really should try to read more fiction, even if it's not "deep"! I hate to admit it, but I think a more frequent escape into light fiction might actually be warranted! ...In any case, the author did a good job at tying up the loo... morese ends, even those I had forgotten about. And she did manage to write a book I enjoyed reading, even though I didn't particularly enjoy the characters or specific content. For that reason the book gets 4 stars. Not bad for a hardcover I randomly picked up for $0.50 at a book fair!
review 2: A likeable, modern story about a woman so rapt with vintage clothing that she gives up her job with a London auction house to pursue her dream and share her obsession. It is a little heavy on the designer name-dropping and garment description but fashion buffs will probably like that. There are romantic failures and disappointments but the characters are multi-generational and work well given their respective challenges and the back story that holds the readers attention to conclusion. less

This was pretty good. Too many random plot lines for me though...
