review 1: This novella gives us the background of Butch, Joanna's second husband. There is more to this man that just the one we have met in prior books. You will like Butch and you will definitely understand him better. Someday J.A. Jance may disappoint me with a less than 5 star book -- but it wasn't in this story.Book also contains an excerpt from "Remains of Innocence" which, of course, made me want to read it ASAP.
review 2: This novella is book number 16.5 in the Joanna Brady series by J.A. Jance - 4 stars. Butch met Joanna while she was attending police academy in Phoenix. Before that he lived in Chicago where he owned an upscale restaurant and was married. His first wife was unfaithful, wiped him out financially, and left him a broken man. He moved to Arizona
... more where he became the owner of a small neighborhood restaurant (with attached bar), and rebuilt his life. Then his ex was murdered in Las Vegas, and Butch was accused. A nice little story to fill in the blanks of Butch's life before Joanna less
