review 1: So far this is my favorite in the series. The flashbacks and chats with old friends were like some of the better moments in a Burke novel, but fortunately JPB never uses a throw-down weapon to make a case against someone he thinks has it coming. I also like him better with Mel and married and not drinking. If you like a cold case and can stand an extended period of hospitalization you'll like this book.
review 2: Heatwarming dedication follows a interesting and pleasant tale. Love the series of a detective who ages, gracefully or not. Author always spins a good yarn. Reader, J.R. Horn, did a fine narration. Det. Beaumont solves cold case 20 years after he promised the girl's mom he would & resolves leftover VietNam war anguish.
