review 1: Wow. Just when I thought I wouldn't find another book that would make me cringe in 2014, I got this one. I guess there's something in the name - Jack Ketchum, Jack Kilborn...Anyway, that was one hell of a book. Disturbing, graphic, gory. Everything I've been looking for. Caught my attention and even though it took me over three weeks to finish it, it's just because of my laziness. But when you start reading it, you don't want to stop. So you read until you're so tired that you can't do anymore. And then you read one more chapter. And one more.I'm really looking forward for the two remaining books.

His wife is in the home and just thinks it is a storm until she hears someone in the house and they are not answering her. All of a sudden she hears her husband coming across the lake and realizes that the person eating popcorn down stairs is NOT her husband. It just goes further from there!I know this is actually his first novel, but I read Endurance, then Trapped, and finally Afraid. I have to say it was the best one! It goes right into the action and has no slow part. Maybe because the slow part is around 10 pages where as the other ones could take up to 30 pages.I really liked how Afraid ties into Trapped but I wish I could ask others what they thought everything meant. Afraid is very scary, of course some gore, and has lovable characters. I found myself not thinking about who would die first in this book as I did in Trapped, I was so zoned into the book that I just kept reading it.I can not wait until he realizes another book like this one, definitely my favorite and will stick with me for a long time. less
