review 1: Kick your mind into surreal gear, open to whatever's gonna happen...cause realism has (mostly) left the building, dragging its bloody parts behind.Transhumanism...... five depraved Red-Ops fiends with digitally enhanced brains, thanks to our government and a sadistic scientist who wears a monkey on his shoulder, take over the town. A smattering of cannibalistic snacking here and there. Enough blood to re-float the Titanic. Did I mention guts galore...lots and lots of gore. At times, as the innocent townspeople fight against the programmed ex-human monsters, the action is fast and furious. (i.e., furious page-flipping!) Interestingly, it seems that, as the Op-monsters refresh themselves with "charges"...the common folk battling against them also take on almost superhuman po... morewers; perhaps being scared sh*tless ratchets up huge adrenalin rushes. I picked out my hero early on. (No, not who you would think!) Sadly, he didn't make it...but he did make a huge plot-impact.Actually, I lied about the surreal, credulity statement. Our government has been into brain-tinkering for eons. Lock your doors, load your Gatlings.
review 2: This book.... wow! I don't even know where to begin. First, maybe I should start off by saying that if you don't like blood, violence and lots of gore, then you should not read this book. I, on the other hand, love all of that stuff! This book had me from page one. It's very intense. After finishing this book I immediately bought Trapped and will probably continue to buy and read all of Jack Kilborn's other books. less
