review 1: This is the fifth book in the piece of cake series. Rita Lucero co-owns Zydeco Cakes with her mother in law Miss Frankie. Miss Frankie gets Zydeco Cakes a big catering opportunity catering the Belle Lune Ball. When Miss Frankie's neigbor's cousin, Eskil, goes missing its reminisent of his fathers' dissapearence. Almost immediatly after, Rita stumbles across the dead body of Silas Laroche. It comes out that Eskil and Silas were fighting over a hunting lease. Rita takes it upon herself to find out who killed him as a favor to Miss Frankie's neighbor. This book had a good plot and was highly enjoyable.
review 2: I really like this series and this was another good entry. Most of the action takes place away from New Orleans in the small swampland town of Bai... moree Rebelle where Miss Frankie's friend Bernice's family lives. There's much going on, including all the drama surrounding 8-months pregnant Edie. We meet an interesting relative of Ox's, and some people from Philippe's past, too. It was easy for me to pick out the bad guy, but that take a thing away from this engaging read! RECOMMEND! less
